If you have only three days to do something that you won’t forget for the rest of the life, then this is a must do: A quick but well organized tour across the cultural heartland of Sri Lanka, hopping from one major UNESCO world heritage to another. Watch elephants bathe in the river during a stop at the Pinnawala elephant orphanage on your way to world famous Dambulla cave temple. The temple, which has one of the oldest rock paintings in the world, will blow your mind. Climbing back down the rocky steps of Dambulla, you will move on to visit to another UNESCO world heritage, the even more impressive Sigiriya fortress city, one of the best preserved planned urban communities of the ancient world.

A boat ride across Hiriwadunna Lake and a traditional lunch along with a complimentary Ayurvedic massage will relax you before you drive to the World Heritage city of Kandy for a visit to the famous Temple of the Tooth, one of the most important Buddhist sites in the world. After spending a day to visit the many attractions of Kandy, you will be taken back to your hotel or to the airport.

Day 1: Airport – Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – Dambulla Cave Temple Click here to readmore

After a warm welcome at the airport by your guide, watch dozens of elephants bathing and playing in the river, feed baby elephants and enjoy your first Sri Lankan meal on your visit in the Pinnawela Elephant Orpahange. Then climb up the steps to the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful frescoes, incredible views and huge Buddha statues. You can also enjoy a complimentary wildlife safari tour on top of an elephant.

Day 2: Sigiriya Rock Fortress – Cultural Dance Performance Click here to readmore


Be blown away by the immense size of the “Fortress in the Sky” or “Lion Rock” Sigiriya, a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. Look down on the paddy fields, coconut groves and the green lush of distant hills from the top of the rock fortress, and admire the world-renowned frescoes of ‘Heavenly Maidens’ on the walls of the rock. Then enjoy a Hirivadunna Village Tour, including a boat tour and safari with lunch.  Take part in a cooking demonstration in a Sri Lankan spice garden, and learn first-hand how to use the spices freshly picked from the plants.
In the evening, addmire the famous Kandyan dancers at a fabulous cultural performance.
