The city of Kandy is located 115 km from Colombo in the centre of the island. Kandy was the last kingdom of Sri Lanka and is set amidst enchanting forests and great rivers and offers breath-taking vistas of picturesque mountains and valleys. The geographical location of Kandy made it a natural fortress of defense. The Sri Dalada Maligawa, which enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha, is the holiest shrine in the Buddhist world. Kandy is a World Heritage site and the capital of the central province.

In the evening you can take a walk through the bustling city and experience the crimson sunset by the lake as the sun dips below the mountains, which surround the town. Simply stroll by the lake and soak up the atmosphere. Kandy also offers great shopping opportunities at arts and crafts workshops, batik manufacturers and the city’s colourful bazaar.
